ECOMAR - ECOMAR coordinates marine conservation projects in Belize that focus on preserving the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System World Heritage Site.  The programs are diverse and offer something for everyone looking to get more involved in marine conservation! Conservation through Education is the underlying goal of each of our projects which engage a diverse group of stakeholders including: marine guides fishermen business owners tourism associations fishing associations NGOs and educational institutions.  ECOMAR encourages these stakeholders to learn more about the marine ecosystems that support their livelihoods.  When resources users are more knowledgeable about the ecosystem processes they take ownership of the reef and get involved in protecting these valuable natural resources.  While stakeholders benefit by learning more about the marine ecosystem it is the marine ecosystem that are hoped to benefit in the long term.
